Nicholas Rock is a Graphic Designer and Design Strategist whose work focuses on Design for Impact—partnering with mission- and purpose-driven organizations through design strategy, visual culture research, visual communication, and experience design. His professional practice includes strategic visioning and brand strategy, experience design, and communication rooted in the study and shaping of visual culture.

He received his BFA in Studio Arts from the University of Rhode Island in 2001 and his MFA in Graphic Design from the Yale School of Art in 2008. In addition to his role as Associate Professor, Nicholas serves as Director of Graduate Studies for the School of Visual Arts at Boston University.

Nicholas is also the co-founder of Station, a design and cultural strategy studio that focuses on creating clarity, alignment, and transformation across various sectors. He has worked with a wide range of organizations—from cultural institutions to Fortune 100 companies—leading multidisciplinary projects in brand development, publication design, and experience strategy. His past clients include the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Apple, American Express, Capital One, and the State of Rhode Island.

Before his career in design, Nicholas served for eight years in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Iraq War. His work is grounded in a belief that design is a tool for shaping systems, building trust, and imagining new possibilities.
